Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Pin Wars is a golf app for groups of golfers: your rounds, with the games and bets your group plays, and challenges. It's run by wombatguru, LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Pin Wars app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run your rounds and challenges.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, your email address and your password. Your password is stored only by our secure sign-in service, in a form we can't read. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them.
Your rounds. The rounds you start or join: the course and the day, who's playing and in which group, the scores entered on the card, the games set up (such as skins, a Nassau or a game across several groups), and the amounts the app works out between players. Pin Wars doesn't handle money: those amounts are a record for your group to settle among yourselves.
Your handicap. The handicap you give yourself, or that whoever runs a round or your group sets for you, and the strokes it gives you in each round.
People you add. When you add someone to a round as a guest, without a Pin Wars account, you give us their name, and their handicap if you enter one.
Your groups. The groups you create or join, and who's in them.
Your challenges. The challenges you create or join, the courses you add (names, locations and hole details), the teams you start or join, the birdies, eagles and holes in one you or your teammates record (with the hole and the date), and invitation codes.
Your settings. Choices you make in the app, such as email preferences.
Technical information. Your device sends its time zone with each request so we know what day it is for you (for example, when a challenge ends). We don't store it. Like most online services, our hosting provider keeps logs with basic technical details such as IP addresses and request times, kept for about 30 days to keep the service running and secure.
We don't use analytics or advertising tools, and we don't collect your location, contacts or photos.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to send sign-up and password reset codes.
- To run your rounds: scorecards, strokes, games, leaderboards and the money worked out between players.
- To run your challenges: teams, results, progress, leaderboards and activity.
- To keep the service working, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see your information
Other players in your rounds. Everyone in a round can see who's playing, the scores, the games and the money worked out, and whoever started it can change it. People who aren't in a round can't see it.
Other members of your groups can see that you're in the group.
Other players in your challenges. When you join a challenge, its other members can see your name, your team and the results recorded by or for you, and the challenge's organizers can manage your membership. People who aren't in a challenge can't see it.
Service providers who run parts of Pin Wars for us, under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, data storage, sign-in and email.
- Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
- OpenGolfAPI, which supplies golf course information. When you search for a course, the words you search for are sent to it; nothing that identifies you is.
When the law requires it. We may disclose information if we must by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
Cookies
On the web, we use cookies only to keep you signed in across the Pin Wars app and website. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (You, then Delete account), or by asking us on our support page from the email address on your account. Deleting it deletes your sign-in, your name, your email address, the handicap you set for yourself and your settings, except where we have to keep something by law. Challenges you own are cancelled, and you leave the challenges and groups you're in. Rounds you played with others, and results recorded in challenges, stay in those players' records, shown as “Deleted player” instead of your name. Deleting your account has the details.
When an organizer removes a result recorded by mistake, it stops counting but stays in the challenge's history, so organizers can see what changed.
Your choices
- You decide which rounds and challenges to join, and you can ask whoever runs one to remove you.
- If someone added you to a round as a guest, you can ask them for a sign-up link to take over your spot, or to take you out of the round.
- You can change email preferences in the app's Settings.
- You can ask for a copy of your information, or for corrections, on our support page.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and by keeping passwords with our sign-in provider rather than ourselves. No service is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Age requirement
Pin Wars is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
